Press conference with US Defense
According to the World News Agency, in a press conference with US Defense Secretary Amtrak Aspar in Kabul, the peace agreement between the US and the Afghan Taliban in Doha was termed as a historic opportunity and thanked the United States and Pakistan for ending the long war in Afghanistan.
The Afghan President expressed hope
The Afghan President expressed hope that this agreement will bring peace and stability to Afghanistan, for which the Afghan people have made great sacrifices. Afghanistan will continue its joint efforts with the United States for lasting peace and ensure that all parties adhere to the agreement. President Ashraf Ghani told the media that under the peace deal, foreign troops in Afghan territory would train the Afghan army and now there would be direct talks between the Taliban and the Kabul government in Afghanistan too.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani further said that violent attacks on the Taliban would stop and US troops would gradually reduce the number of their troops within 135 days to eight thousand personnel while NATO and US personnel would be deployed to Afghanistan in the next 14 months, NATO and US personnel will have to withdraw from Afghanistan completely.
Afghanistan will not be used against anyone
President Ashraf Ghani said that the Taliban has also assured that the land of Afghanistan will not be used against anyone and the promotion of terrorism will be discouraged, for which the Taliban and the Kabul government will continue talks.
It should be noted that a peace agreement between the Afghan Taliban and the US has been reached in Qatar, which was signed by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar on behalf of the Afghan Taliban.
