Pakistan won the first gold medal in the 13th South Asian Games thanks to Shahida Abbasi’s outstanding performance. The 13th South Asian Games are underway in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and with the Pakistan volleyball team reaching the final, Shahida Abbasi won the Karate Championship and handed Pakistan the first gold medal.
Teams from seven countries are participating in the South Asian Games, where Nepal hosts 6 medals, including 4 gold medals.
At the opening ceremony of the event, shooter Guelph Joseph led the national squad with the flag of Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Shahida Abbasi proudly lifted the nation with a gold medal in Kata Karate competitions and easily won the match against Nepali rivals by a score of 25-42. At the same time, Pakistan’s Niamatullah won the silver medal in the individual category of karate. Pakistan has won 4 medals including 1 gold, 4 silver, and one bronze medals in the event so far.
Pakistan has another medal in the event where the Pakistan team will face India on Tuesday in the volleyball competition. 94 players from 7 countries competed for 7 gold, 7 silver and 14 bronze medals at the South Asian Games.
