Khan attended the “St. Columba’s School” in Delhi, where he excelled academically. He also excelled in sports and received the “Sword of Honour,” the highest honor awarded to a student by the college.
He enrolled in the esteemed “Hansraj College” in Delhi in 1985 to pursue his graduation with a focus in Economics. He also received acting instruction during this time under the direction of playwright Barry John, a member of the “Theatre Action Group.”
He earned his bachelor’s degree in 1988, and in 1989 he enrolled at Jamia Millia Islamia University to study mass communication at the graduate level. Nevertheless, he left school and decided to pursue a career in acting.
