Russia is banned from the Olympics and global sporting events
Russia is banned from the Olympics and global sporting events |Russia is banned from participating in all world events including the Olympics. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has imposed a four-year ban on all world sports competitions in Russia, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. According to a foreign news agency, WADA’s executive committee has sentenced Russia to change the data on its players’ doping tests and destroy them. The WADA committee called the Russian initiative a very serious issue of non-compliance and cited hundreds of data fraud and extortion cases.
Russia presented itself as a powerful country at the World Games during the recent Olympics, but in 2015 a WADA report found evidence of widespread doping in relation to Russian athletics. Remember that the investigation was initiated by the International Olympic Committee after allegations of doping in government patronage in 2014, and after the completion of the 17-month investigation, the Olympic Committee also banned Russia from participating in the Winter Olympics 2018.
For the first time in the history of the Olympics, any country has been subjected to such a doping scandal, which has led Russia to a historic crisis in the field of sports since the Soviet Union. On the other hand, some Russian officials have called the sanctions unfair and have blamed Western countries for their conspiracy. Wada has said that if Rosauda appeals against the executive committee’s sanction, the matter will be referred to the Sports Court (CAS).
