Addressing a press conference in Lahore, President Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Chaudhry Shefa Hussain said that the World Kabaddi Festival will be held in Pakistan next year and Lahore will host the Kabaddi World Cup from January 12 to 18. He said that 10 teams will participate in the World Cup in Pakistan, while two teams will be part of the mega event after the qualifying round. The event will consist of teams from three continents in which teams from Pakistan, India, Iran, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Kenya, and Sierra Leone will participate directly. Two teams from Norway, Spain, Germany, Cameroon and other teams at the Kabaddi World Cup will be part of the global event after the qualifying round. The winners of the Kabaddi World Cup will be given one crore, runner-up 75 million and the third-place team will receive 50 million prizes. The Kabaddi World Cup began in 2010 and has so far held six World Cup competitions, five of which were contested by the Pakistani Kabaddi team. All the World Cup matches are still in India, out of which the national team suffered a defeat in the final of four while another national team included in the national team did not participate in the last World Cup.
