Kevin Hart Personal Life

Kevin Hart was born on July 6, 1979, to Nancy and Henry Hart. Unfortunately, his father had a substance abuse problem which meant he was raised mainly by his mother who was a systems analyst. Throughout this challenging time, Kevin was known for using humor as a way to cope. Later, he would reference his childhood in his comedy.

In 2003, Kevin married his first wife Torrei but they divorced in 2010. Today, they share joint custody of their two children, Heaven Leigh and Hendrix. In 2014, Kevin announced his engagement to Eniko Parrish. They were married two years later and had their son in 2017. Just a month after their son’s birth, though, the couple had reportedly fallen out after Kevin admitted to cheating. Although this was tabloid fodder, the two later reconciled and had their second child in 2020. Today, Kevin lives with his family in a 9,600 square feet Spanish-style villa that sits on his sprawling 26-acre plot in Calabasas, California.

Kevin Hart Career

During his first few stand-up shows in his native Philly, Kevin was booed off the stage. Fortunately for Kevin (and his fans), he used this as motivation to improve his craft and soon joined comedy competitions in Massachusetts. From here, his audience reception improved significantly and he eventually began his first comedy tour in 2009. A huge hit, this encouraged him to continue touring to much success. His latest tour “Reality Check” is set to hit the road this year (2022).

In 2009, after being hailed as a rising name in comedy, he gained more mainstream success on the Comedy Central shows “I’m a Grown Little Man” and “Seriously Funny”. From there, he landed larger and more high-profile roles in films like “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”. Thanks to Kevin’s charm and natural comedic timing onscreen, he was soon catapulted to more leading roles in over a dozen films and TV shows. His films have generated over $1.3 billion at the global box office. Some of his more recent hit films include “Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle” and “The Secret Life of Pets”.

Aside from comedy, Kevin is also a businessman. Currently, he is launching the comedy streaming service Laugh Out Loud and HartBeat Productions. Kevin is also a recognized card player. As a matter of fact, he is often considered among the richest poker players around especially on the celebrity poker circuit. Kevin has been known to regularly participate in charity poker tourneys and matches for the globally renowned PokerStars. Known as a high-stakes player, Kevin is frequently seen playing in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Now, while his total winnings in poker are unknown, his hefty net worth still makes him one of the most well-off poker-playing amateurs there is. Kevin Hart Controversies

Given his outspoken and outgoing nature, it’s not surprising that Kevin has been embroiled in several scandals. In 2013, he was sentenced to three years probation after being booked for several DUIs in Los Angeles. Then, in 2019, Kevin was involved in a serious car crash in Malibu. Though he was only the passenger on this occasion, reports state that both Kevin and his friend behind the wheel were under the influence. This wreck left both with serious injuries, though, thankfully they recovered.

Most recently, in 2019, Kevin was at the center of a public firestorm that made him one of show business’s most polarizing stars. After he was announced as the host of that year’s Oscars, many boycotted the prestigious awards ceremony stating the main reason was Kevin’s homophobic jokes. In response, Kevin withdrew from hosting the gig, though this didn’t quell the hate he was receiving. Many believed Kevin was only pretending to be accountable while pretending to be the victim of cancel culture. It was only after months of laying low that Kevin was able to regain some of the acceptance he has enjoyed previously.
