Chief of Pakistan Sports Board on remand

Chief of Pakistan Sports Board on remand | Chief of Pakistan Sports Board handed over to NAB on remand. Islamabad Accountability Court hands over Pakistan Sports Board PSB Director General Arif Ibrahim to National Accountability Bureau NAB on a 10-day transit remand.

According to a report published in the Dawn newspaper, the NAB arrested him on allegations of corruption in his posting in Gilgit-Baltistan GB. He faces corruption-related references in GB’s accountability court but does not appear in the case. In addition, the accountability court issued a warrant arrest on absenteeism and directed NAB to appear in court by October 24.
It may be recalled that the Federal Investigation Agency FIA had earlier arrested former PCB Director-General Dr. Akhtar Nawaz on corruption charges. Arif Ibrahim has held the additional post of PSB Director-General for the past one year. The accountability court had directed the NAB to present Arif Ibrahim to the GB Accountability Court before the expiry of the transit remand. Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court also dismissed the request for bail before the arrest of Arif Ibrahim in a pending reference in the GB Accountability Court.


It should be remembered that in September this year, NAB summoned former Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal in a case related to setting up Sports City in his hometown of Narowal.
