He further wrote that in an oath-taking ceremony, he paid tribute to his father, who took oath in Urdu, who served in the British Indian Army. Afzal Khan, a Labor candidate from Pakistan, won his seat from Gorton in Manchester. Significantly, 15 Pakistani-born British won their seats in the UK elections, the majority of whom were from the Labor Party.
